Privacy Policy

Effective July 18, 2026

The short version: Grumblegram does not collect personal information. No account, no login, no name, no email. The anonymous analytics described below contain no information that can identify you.

What we collect

Grumblegram uses PostHog, a privacy-focused analytics service, to record anonymous gameplay and app usage events. This helps us understand how the game is being played and improve it over time. Those events cover:

These events record what happened and when. The words you build are never sent; a completed puzzle reports only counts and totals, such as how many words locked and how many tiles you placed. The one exception is peeking at a character card, which records which letter's card you opened.

The analytics use a randomly generated per-install identifier stored on your device. This identifier is not linked to your name, email address, Apple ID, device ID, or any other personal information.

Each event also carries basic technical details about the device it came from: the device model (for example, iPhone 16 Pro), and the iOS version. These describe the hardware, not you, and cannot be used to identify you.

Crash reports

If Grumblegram crashes, a report is sent so the bug can be found and fixed. A crash report describes the state of the app at the moment it failed, including where in the code the crash happened, alongside the same device details and anonymous identifier described above.

Crash reports are written to your device and sent the next time you open the app. They contain no personal information and none of your puzzle content.

What we do not collect

No App Tracking Transparency prompt is shown because no cross-app or cross-site tracking occurs.

Data storage

Game state (your streak, puzzle history, settings, and best scores) is stored locally on your device only. It is not uploaded to any server. Grumblegram works entirely offline; no internet connection is required to play.

The optional daily reminder is a local notification scheduled on your device. No notification data leaves your device, and no push notification service is used.

Third-party services

PostHog: anonymous gameplay analytics. Events are sent to PostHog's servers at us.i.posthog.com. PostHog's privacy policy is available at posthog.com/privacy.

Apple App Store / StoreKit: handles all in-app purchases. Grumblegram never receives or stores your payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs that transaction.

Children's privacy

Grumblegram is rated 4+ and is appropriate for all ages. The analytics we collect are anonymous and contain no personal information, so no special measures are required for users under 13.
